Sploder is a type of website where you can create your own game but you need an account. In this game you’re able to make levels that have power suits, fire trolls and robots. When you press test level you’ll see how much fun Sploder can be. You could challenge your friends with your game to see if they could win or lose. You can even add in some cars, swords, and shields. You can make up to 10 levels with lava, water and weak floors. You can even add in lives plus blasters to help you defend yourself when attacked. The hard part about Sploder is learning how to play it because you have to know how to play it when you test it or you’ll die. Sploder is a game that you can learn how to play, but it can sometimes be hard or easy. In Sploder you can even invite your friends and play multiplayer but you both have to have a Sploder account in order to play. When you play try to make it easy enough for you to beat or else you’ll get sad that you can’t beat it. If you can’t beat you it, you should just try again or make your game again.

Kids Rock!

Kid's Rock title

Kids rock is lots of fun. It is a musical for kids.  We are performing songs from Jungle Book, High School Musical and Little Mermaid.  All you have to do in Kids Rock is to sing and dance and have fun. Children perform for parents and children. You can get a part in Kids Rock, and that might be a very fun part. When I went to Kids Rock for the first time, I got chosen to be an elephant in Jungle Book.  I also get to be a monkey.  The show starts on April 26 and ends on May 6.  The show is at the Little Theater in Dar es Salaam.  Next year you can sign up for Kids Rock.

IBDP VisualArts Final Exhibition

williamInterview with Ms Nora Graham, IB Art Teacher and her IB Art student, William

IBDP VisualArts Final Exhibition 2013 at IST Secondary Campus

Q: How long have the students been working on their projects?
William: Depends on what students are doing and what media they have chosen for their project. For example painting takes a week, sometimes longer. This piece for example, took me a long time about 6 months – it is a portrait that I used both paint and charcoal to create this piece.

Q: What is the purpose of the Final Exhibition?
William: The Final Exhibition is the way we students get to show people what we have been working on over the past 2 years. The work we have on display are pieces that we have produced from research that we have done and for our course work in class.

Q: Can we come see your student’s work?
William and Ms Nora: Yes! Please come. Tuesday, March 26th from 5 to 7pm in the IST Secondary Campus Library. You are invited to see all the work students have produced – there is a lot to see. William’s work will be displayed downstairs in Secondary Campus Library.

Q: Can we join in – will there be opportunity for us to do art with your students?
Ms Nora: Unfortunately there will not be opportunities for interactive art this year BUT I really like your idea and maybe we can work on something for next year. Please do come a support our students. They have worked very hard to produce amazing art!

Thank you William and Ms Nora.

Pokémon are very popular little creatures, who appear in video games, TV shows and on cards that you can trade or battle.

Pokémon, created by Satoshi Tajiri CEO of Game Freak, started of as a video game for a system called the Nintendo entertainment system (NES). The game Pokémon (called pocket monsters or poketto monsuta in Japanese.) was invented not to help the rocky situation of the company Game Freak, but as a video game Satoshi wanted to play.

In the four long years of creating Pokémon he had little money to pay his workers. His mentor Shigeru Miyamoto, the inventor of super Mario bros and Donkey Kong, helped him out by giving him advice.

After it was popular in Japan he introduced Pokémon to the United States. USA loved it even though they changed most of the names to English names. Pikachu is one of the few names that did not get changed. Pikachu is a combination of two Japanese words. Pika, the word to describe the sound electricity makes and chu describes what a mouse sounds like. Pikachu became the electric mouse Pokémon.

Then in Japan something bad happened!! In Pokémon episode 23 titled Deno Senshi Porygon or computer soldier, Porygon. 20 minutes into the show an anti virus program fired missiles at Pikachu and his friends, while they were in a computer. Pikachu used his thunderbolt attack. The attack flashed across the screen with red and blue flashes. Even though that flash had happened earlier that show, in this scene animators used a technique called Paki Paki, which made lots of kids get sick. They were not aloud to show that episode. Even though, Pokémon was still popular.
You should really watch or play Pokémon.

SIM Software

Will Wright created the Sims. The Sims started as a helicopter combat game where you go to cities and blow them up. The creator decided that people would want to make the cities so he made a game called Sim City. You start making your city from scratch.

He made a bigger version called Sim Earth where you do the same but on a whole planet. He then made Sim Ant where you make an ant colony survive. He went on to make Sim Life where you do stuff with the eco system. He made a game called Sim Farm where you make a farm. He then made a game called SimCity 2000, which is the same as SimCity, but you have more options.

He made a game called Sim Town for kids, which is like Sim City, which is child friendly. He then made SimCity 3000 where it has more features. He then made the Sims, which is about life like getting a job and stuff. He then made the Sims bursting where you have a real objective to make money. He then made the My Sims, which is a kiddie version for the Wii. He then made Sims 2 and 3 where there are more features.

Well that is my review of the Sims. I have left out some games because they are just add on packs, etc. Out of all of them my favorite is The Sims 3 because you can go solve mysteries!
