THE USA ELECTIONS

There are only two people who are running for the role as president: Mr Romney, who is running on the Republican side and President Obama, who is running for the Democratic side .
Here is a picture of both of the people who are running for president.

Former US president Bill Clinton is making an appearance with President Obama encouraging people to vote for President Obama. President Obama is currently president and trying to keep this important role in the US government. To be selected to be president you have to have experience in the US government, such as being a governor of a state or any high role in the US government. Then if you’re a Republican then the other people in the Republican party have to take a vote so that you can run for president. It’s the same thing for being a Democrat. If you were born in a different country but still a born US citizen, you can still be a US President. to run for president you must be the age of thirty five .To vote for president you have to be 18 years of age . That is how the US elections work.

IST’s Got Talent – The Real Deal

Five months before the actual show people started rehearsing and getting ready for the big day. The IST’s Got Talent show was on May 5 at the covered court at IST elementary. It was an amazing show produced only by the EPN social group. Great effort was put into this project and more than 300 people were supporting the magicians, singers and even clowns.

Not just the performers and the EPN had to work hard to put on this show on the stage, the crew also did a big part of taking the chairs and tables on and off the stage for the performers. The IST’s Got Talent may be over for this year but it will return again next year!

Read to Feed at IST

Read to feed is here and I can see a lot of students reading. There is more one than animal on campus this year. Some people have discovered that there are chickens and goats. Here are some pictures of the animals for Read to Feed and keep on reading and remember that it is for a good cause! Here, below are some pictures of the chickens.

I bet you’ve seen these cardboard animals around the school a lot!

This chicken looks like she is laying eggs!

Here we caught the rooster outside its cage.

Now that’s enough about the chickens. Here are some goats:

Here we got this picture of the Green Team activity while they were giving the goats a little wash.

Poor baby goat! Here he got caught by surprise! “Oh no, my legs!”

At the end they got a treat.
“Mmm yummy goat food!”

The IST Spelling Team (Team Twiga), led by Mrs McKillip, has been learning how to spell better than before. We are all different in age, height and grade levels, but together we can make a good team. The competition is on the computer. Our challenge is to compete against other people in other countries. We, as group, worked hard to be at least in first or second place. On 6th March each team member played different people around the world. You can find our school’s results on the Elementary Campus News Blog.

World Maths Day

On Wednesday, March 7, IST was playing games for World Maths Day against kids all over the world! The kids had been practicing all week for the big day. That day the whole school got to dress up in clothing related to math. Fractions, parallel lines, shapes were all there! My class, 3L, came to the computer lab, and logged on to the World Maths Day website to play against other students all over the world. It was really fun! The teachers also joined in by playing with other teachers around the world. To find out more go to the IST Grade 3 Blog.

The Grade 4 Bagamoyo Trip

Bagamoyo was a fun, historical and different experience for all of us. Some people loved it, but some people did not. We went to many historic sites and we saw many new things. Some things we had seen before. Mr Mercer told us about some of these sites in Bagamoyo.

For 4S it rained but for 4R it was as hot as a desert and many people got tired in Kaole Ruins so for some classes the weather was different.

Peace Day 2011

IST Elementary Campus celebrated Peace Day on Wednesday, 20 September 2011. We went to the field. When we were on the field, we were in a giant circle with a grade 4 class singing in the middle. After that we all started singing ‘We are Peace Makers’ and danced while Mr. Ringlestein was singing the song through a microphone. Also all the other schools in the world were celebrating Peace Day.

Mr. R and Ms. S led the Peace Rally

You can see our pictures and listen to us singing from the Elementary Campus News Blog.
